Our newest destination is Rudi's Portsmouth. Located right in Market Square on High Street. Owner, Keith Prince, was gracious enough to let us ask a few questions, snap some photos, and taste a few items off of their menu.
It's nice to meet you Keith, please clue us in on what makes Rudi's the great restaurant it is today. How would you describe it?
Casual fine dining. Lounge area is very casual and laid back. Wine Bar is an up beat fun place for grown up's to have a nice glass of wine and offers the full menu as well. Entrees run from $10 - $30. Happy hour specials weeks days in the wine bar and lounge from 4 - 6 pm offering a $6 app menu and daily drink specials. Dining room is a bit more formal but still welcomes casual diners. We offer live music Wednesday - Saturday nights starting at 6 pm and a Jazz Brunch on Sundays from 10 - 2. We are open 6 days a week for Lunch & Dinner from 11:30 am, and Sunday Brunch from 10 - 2.
Each room was as welcoming as the next, but they all had their own uniqueness about them. From the eye-catching art hanging on the walls to the comfortable, yet stylish, furniture on the floor, the interior of Rudi's has been carefully crafted to meet the needs of any patron looking for a memorable dining experience.
After peeking into each room, we found our seats and ordered a starter. The first dish was the Fig Ravioli. What's in this dish, Keith?
Toasted walnut and mascarpone cheese filled ravioli in a sherry cream with sautéed oyster mushroom.
Fortunately for us, we were able to taste two popular main dishes on the Rudi's menu. Following the Fig Ravioli was the first main dish. The Seared Scallops Over Penne Mac & Cheese is made up of what?
Asiago, gruyere and goat cheese, spinach, grilled tomatoes and garlic crumbs.
The second main dish was the delicious Grilled Ribeye. Keith, what comes with this succulent steak?
It is served with Smuttynose Robust Porter demi glace, pancetta braised spinach and red potato hash.
Each dish was very appetizing, with this next dish definitely included. Please tell us about the dessert we tried.
The Chocolate Bundt Cake is topped with chocolate ganache and fresh whipped cream.
We thoroughly enjoyed Rudi's Portsmouth and will certainly be back soon. Please discuss the importance of being an independent locally owned business.
Rudi's only does business with local business. 100% of our product comes from local INDEPENDENT companies. We exclusively do business with Favorite Foods in Somersworth, Golden Harvest in Kittery and Seaport Fish in Rye. Rudi's is 100% commited to keeping our money local and supporting other local owned business's and will not do business with any of the large food chain vendors.
Rudi's Portsmouth is located in one of the best parts of town and it would be hard to imagine Market Square without it. Keith already told us the hours of operation at the beginning of this post, but make sure to like them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter. You can check out their upcoming events on their calendar, find out about new specials, and even take a virtual tour of the entire restaurant right on their website. Feel free to take a look at some extra photos below, like us on our Facebook page, and share this post with your friends. Thanks for reading!
